Overview
Eva Robarts lives and works in New York City and Miami. She received a BFA in sculpture from Pratt Institute in 2008.

Robarts’ process begins outside of the studio, with observing, collecting, sketching and recording the shifting metropolitan landscape. Investigating themes of urban evolution and development, her multimedia practice combines sculpture, drawing, collage, painting and installation. Gathering discarded municipal relics—such as bent bicycle frames, doorknobs, and weathered mop handles—the artist subjects her findings to a period of studio gestation before they are intuitively reconfigured. She draws on an experience in maintenance work and expands traditional studio practices. Instead of paintbrushes, mops and drills thus become essential to execute sweeping, gestural paintings, or puncture metal into geometric compositions and non-representational forms. Through this use of diverse mediums, she questions how material interplays one’s existence and relationship to their immediate environment.
